When we left England we hadn’t actually booked anywhere to stay for our first night on the continent. It’ll be easy, we thought, we’ll just find somewhere from one of the Apps or site books we’d bought. Our last week in the UK was far more frantic than we could have imagined and we left the UK with a somewhat hastily packed motorhome and our three girls who hadn’t really spent any time with us, so we were looking for a place to land where our family could pause and acclimatise to our new ‘life on the road’. It turned out that Strandpark offered us just that.
This pretty campsite set back from the stunning dunes on Holland’s North Sea coast, presented us with family fun and enjoyment; despite the wintry weather!
The girls found an abundance of play parks to enjoy, scattered across the site and the bouncy air pillow was a great way to let off steam (for all of us!). The indoor swimming pool was a hit too, especially once they discovered the pirate ship splash park. After several tiring afternoons of swimming, the indoor kids cinema (which showed programmes in English as well as Dutch) was a great space for them to chill out that wasn’t back at the motorhome (and also meant we could enjoy the beautiful bar space and sample the local Swinkels beer!)
The motorhome area was quiet (it was late November) but the pitch was a good size, with water and electric on pitch, along with a Wi-Fi aerial giving us a very good signal. The beautifully clean and warm shower and laundry room block was less than a minute’s walk away. The girls loved the kids showers with colourful bird shower heads and mini baths.
Other pluses were the onsite shop, free mini golf (which we didn’t try) and very helpful staff, oh and did I mention the stunning sand dunes? Less than a 10 minute walk, were miles of flat sand to enjoy.
The reviews on the Campercontact app suggested the site was overpriced. We paid an average of 40 euros per night for our motorhome and five people (which included an ACSI discount), which we felt offered us very good value for money. Strandpark is definitely on our list to revisit!
